Studio B Featured by Fantastic Frank: Mountain Ridge Residence

We’re pleased to share that our Mountain Ridge Residence has been featured by Fantastic Frank, highlighting a home that reflects our approach to modern architecture in Boulder, rooted in landscape, light, and experience.

Set on a private site above Boulder and bordered by protected open space, the home is designed as a quiet extension of the hillside. The architecture responds to both the physical terrain and the broader idea of regrowth, stitching into the land while opening outward to expansive views.

Floor-to-ceiling glazing frames moments of the Flatirons and distant peaks, allowing the changing light to shape the rhythm of daily life. Spaces unfold as a sequence, moving from compression to openness, from shelter to exposure, creating a home that is felt as much as it is seen.

Materially, the project balances clarity and warmth. Refined surfaces, natural textures, and carefully crafted details create a sense of quiet luxury, while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding environment.

Outdoor spaces extend the architecture, supporting a lifestyle that moves seamlessly between interior and exterior, morning light, midday openness, and evening views all considered in the design.

Spring Valley Featured in Modern in Denver

We’re honored to see Spring Valley featured in the latest issue of Modern in Denver. The project reflects Studio B’s ongoing exploration of modern architecture rooted in place, material clarity, and the experience of moving through space.

Located in Boulder, Colorado, Spring Valley is designed as a carefully choreographed sequence of arrival. The approach guides visitors through layered planes of concrete, steel, and landscape before arriving at a tall pivot door. As the door opens, the home unfolds, revealing light-filled interiors and framed views of the surrounding landscape.

Rather than revealing itself all at once, the architecture moves from moments of compression to expansion. Exterior paths transition to interior spaces, and structure gives way to openness and light. These subtle transitions shape the experience of the home, creating a quiet sense of anticipation and discovery.

We are grateful to the team at Modern in Denver for sharing the story of this project and to the many collaborators, craftspeople, and partners who helped bring Spring Valley to life.

We’re pleased to share that Mountain Ridge, our newest custom residence nestled into the foothills above Boulder, is now complete.

To mark this milestone, Studio B Architecture + Interiors recently hosted a private Grand Reveal and Open House, an invitation-only gathering designed to offer an intimate experience of the home.

This was not a typical open house, but a curated moment to bring together friends, collaborators, and members of our extended community who share an appreciation for thoughtful design and meaningful conversation.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who joined us.
Experiencing the home alongside you, through conversation, movement, and shared perspective, made the evening especially meaningful.

A Peek Into the Process: Construction at Mountain Ridge

We’re excited to share the completion of Mountain Ridge, a new custom residence nestled into the foothills above Boulder, Colorado. Thoughtfully embedded in the landscape, the home is both a response to the site’s history and a vision for renewal, an architecture shaped by regrowth, connection, and light.

The design takes cues from the scar left by a previously demolished structure, using that imprint as a starting point to stitch the hillside back together. Interlaced volumes create a series of courtyards and protected outdoor rooms, while a vertically zigzagging roofline follows the terrain, bringing movement and hierarchy to the form. Throughout the day, light filters deep into the interiors, creating a dynamic experience that shifts with the seasons.

As the finishing touches come together, we’re looking forward to professional photography in the coming weeks to fully capture the home’s relationship to the hillside, the quality of light, and the carefully crafted details that define the project. We can’t wait to share the final imagery soon.

Design Like a Girl at CU Denver

Earlier this month, Studio B’s own Irina participated in the Design Like a Girl event at the University of Colorado Denver, an initiative created to empower young women and nonbinary students interested in architecture, engineering, and the built environment. The event brought together practicing designers, students, and mentors for an afternoon focused on creativity, confidence-building, and the joy of making.

Hosted by CU’s College of Architecture and Planning, Design Like a Girl is more than a workshop, it’s an introduction to the possibility of seeing yourself in design. Through hands-on activities, thoughtful conversations, and one-on-one mentorship, participants explored what it means to imagine spaces, solve problems with intention, and discover their own design voice.

Irina represented Studio B as a mentor and guide, spending the day sketching, discussing studio culture, and sharing her experience transitioning from design school to professional practice. We’re proud of Irina for contributing to such a meaningful initiative and for sharing Studio B’s commitment to mentorship, education, and design excellence with the next generation of creators.
