Studio B Aspen Residence Returns to the Market

Completed in 2014, this custom residence by Studio B reflects the firm’s longstanding approach to creating architecture that responds to both place and constraint. Located in Aspen’s Five Trees neighborhood near Aspen Highlands, the home was carefully designed within a highly regulated design review process, turning neighborhood restrictions into opportunities for thoughtful design.

Positioned to capture sweeping views of the Aspen Valley, the residence seamlessly connects indoor and outdoor living through expansive glazing, natural materials, and generous gathering spaces. Warm stone, timber, and steel create a timeless mountain-modern palette that continues to feel relevant after completion. The home’s enduring design was recognized with an ASID Colorado Crystal Award, celebrating the collaborative excellence of Studio B Architecture + Interiors and the project’s interior design.

Now back on the market, the home stands as a reminder that enduring architecture isn’t defined by trends, but by how thoughtfully it responds to its site, its context, and the people who live there.

Mountain Ridge Featured by Dezeen

Studio B Architecture + Interiors is proud to announce that Mountain Ridge has been featured by Dezeen, one of the world’s leading architecture and design publications.

Perched on a three-acre hillside overlooking Boulder, the residence was designed to respond to its site rather than dominate it. Inspired by the surrounding Flatirons, the home’s folded roofline, natural materials, and expansive glazing create a seamless connection between architecture, interiors, and landscape.

Developed in collaboration with Studio Brother John, Mountain Ridge reflects a shared vision of thoughtful, restrained design that feels both contemporary and timeless.

This international recognition continues Studio B’s growing list of published work and reinforces our belief that the best architecture begins with listening, to the client, the land, and the unique opportunities every site provides.

Studio B’s Conor Burrows Featured in Modern Luxury Aspen’s “Next Generation of Aspen”

Studio B Architecture + Interiors is pleased to share that designer Conor Burrows has been featured in Modern Luxury Aspen’s Summer 2026 issue as part of its “Next Generation of Aspen” feature.

The article highlights a group of young professionals who were born and raised in Aspen and are now helping shape the community’s future through design, business, and service. As a lifelong local, Conor represents a generation deeply connected to the place they call home while bringing new perspectives gained through education, travel, and professional experience.

Growing up in Aspen, Conor developed an appreciation for the mountains and built environment at an early age. His passion for architecture was sparked through hands-on making, outdoor exploration, and a desire to create places that strengthen the relationship between people and landscape.

After studying architecture at the University of Colorado and spending time teaching and traveling abroad, Conor returned to Colorado with a broadened perspective on design, sustainability, and place-based architecture. Today, he contributes to a variety of Studio B projects while drawing inspiration from the landscapes that first shaped his interest in design.

The accompanying image, taken atop North Maroon Peak (14,019 feet), reflects the deep connection to the Elk Mountains that continues to influence his work. It serves as a reminder that architecture is not only about buildings, but also about understanding the character, history, and natural beauty of a place.

We congratulate Conor on this recognition and look forward to his continued contributions to Studio B, Aspen, and the broader design community.

Tie House at Canyon Pines

Studio B Architecture + Interiors is pleased to share the approved concept design for Tie House, a new residence envisioned for the Canyon Pines community outside Golden, CO.

Set into the hillside like a railcar embedded within the terrain, the home stretches horizontally across the slope as a long, low volume of steel-framed glass anchored by a crisp concrete plinth. The architecture responds directly to the rugged topography of the site, balancing privacy from the entry sequence with expansive southern views toward the mountains and city below.

From the drive court, the home presents a quiet and restrained presence, two elongated forms connected by a transparent entry threshold. Beyond the arrival sequence, the interiors open fully to light and landscape through continuous south-facing glazing and carefully framed views.

The material palette remains intentionally restrained and tactile throughout: dark-stained heavy timber ceilings and columns, smooth plaster walls, dark stone flooring, and exposed concrete establish a sense of permanence rooted in the hillside itself.

The lower level extends the architecture deeper into the slope with additional bedroom suites, a media room, and fitness spaces opening onto sheltered outdoor terraces immersed in the landscape.

Tie House reflects Studio B’s continued interest in architecture that emerges from site, light, and topography, creating homes that feel deeply connected to their surroundings and only possible in their place.

Waiting for Snow at Mountain Ridge

Some projects ask for patience.

When planning the photography for Mountain Ridge, we always imagined the home in snow. Perched along the hillside with expansive views across the landscape, the architecture was designed to respond to the seasons, light shifting across the interiors, changing atmospheres through the glazing, and the quiet contrast between warm materials and the alpine environment beyond.

This winter, we waited.

And waited.
