We’re excited to share the completion of Mountain Ridge, a new custom residence nestled into the foothills above Boulder, Colorado. Thoughtfully embedded in the landscape, the home is both a response to the site’s history and a vision for renewal, an architecture shaped by regrowth, connection, and light.

The design takes cues from the scar left by a previously demolished structure, using that imprint as a starting point to stitch the hillside back together. Interlaced volumes create a series of courtyards and protected outdoor rooms, while a vertically zigzagging roofline follows the terrain, bringing movement and hierarchy to the form. Throughout the day, light filters deep into the interiors, creating a dynamic experience that shifts with the seasons.

As the finishing touches come together, we’re looking forward to professional photography in the coming weeks to fully capture the home’s relationship to the hillside, the quality of light, and the carefully crafted details that define the project. We can’t wait to share the final imagery soon.

Earlier this month, Studio B’s own Irina participated in the Design Like a Girl event at the University of Colorado Denver, an initiative created to empower young women and nonbinary students interested in architecture, engineering, and the built environment. The event brought together practicing designers, students, and mentors for an afternoon focused on creativity, confidence-building, and the joy of making.

Hosted by CU’s College of Architecture and Planning, Design Like a Girl is more than a workshop, it’s an introduction to the possibility of seeing yourself in design. Through hands-on activities, thoughtful conversations, and one-on-one mentorship, participants explored what it means to imagine spaces, solve problems with intention, and discover their own design voice.

Irina represented Studio B as a mentor and guide, spending the day sketching, discussing studio culture, and sharing her experience transitioning from design school to professional practice. We’re proud of Irina for contributing to such a meaningful initiative and for sharing Studio B’s commitment to mentorship, education, and design excellence with the next generation of creators.

Aspen’s architectural story takes center stage in Private Aspen: Modernism in the Mountains, the latest release from Phaidon authored by Helen Thompson. Showcasing eighteen remarkable residences, the book highlights the evolution of modernism in the Rockies, and we are proud that our Conundrum Creek Residence is among those featured. This October marks seven years since Stacy joined Studio B.

She started on the interiors side of the practice as an Interiors Assistant, working alongside Susan Okie Lindenau. Over time, her role shifted from working directly on projects to focusing on how Studio B communicates its work, its people, and its point of view.

Today, as Studio B’s Brand & Communications Lead, Stacy oversees the studio’s marketing and communications, from the website, social media, newsletters, publications, and awards to events, recruiting, and the many details that shape how Studio B is seen beyond the studio.

Her years working within the Interiors Department continue to inform that role. Having experienced the design process firsthand gives her an understanding of not only the finished architecture, but also the thinking, collaboration, and work behind it.

Over seven years, the role has evolved alongside the studio, new projects, new people, new platforms, and new ways to share what Studio B does.

Seven years in, Stacy is still finding new ways to tell the Studio B story.

We are proud to share that Partner Sarah Harkins is featured in the Fall 2025 issue of Modern in Denver. The article spotlights Sarah alongside a talented group of Colorado architects, each offering their perspective on what it means to design modern architecture today.

In her interview, Sarah reflects on how modernism continues to evolve, becoming more human, contextual, and attuned to livability. She highlights how Colorado’s distinctive terrain and climate both challenge and inspire design, while also underscoring the value of a collaborative architectural community that shapes the state’s built environment.

“We define modern architecture as an ongoing pursuit of clarity, restraint, and purpose … distilling design to its essence: clean lines, honest materials, and a thoughtful relationship between building and site.”

We are excited to share the completion of Parkside Villa, a full reimagining of a 9,100-square-foot residence in Boulder. The home, designed for an active family who loves to entertain, now stands as a contemporary retreat that balances openness with intimacy, performance with beauty.

This summer at Studio B, we’re celebrating construction progress, new team members, and moments of community connection. Projects like Mountain Ridge in Boulder and Colorado Gulch in Leadville are well underway, each reflecting unique client visions and deep ties to their natural settings.
