We’re excited to share that we are nearing completion of Mountain Ridge, a new custom residence nestled into the foothills above Boulder, Colorado. Thoughtfully embedded in the landscape, the home is both a response to the site’s history and a vision for renewal, an architecture shaped by regrowth, connection, and light.
The design takes cues from the scar left by a previously demolished structure, using that imprint as a starting point to stitch the hillside back together. Interlaced volumes create a series of courtyards and protected outdoor rooms, while a vertically zigzagging roofline follows the terrain, bringing movement and hierarchy to the form. Throughout the day, light filters deep into the interiors, creating a dynamic experience that shifts with the seasons.
As the finishing touches come together, we’re looking forward to professional photography in the coming weeks to fully capture the home’s relationship to the hillside, the quality of light, and the carefully crafted details that define the project. We can’t wait to share the final imagery soon.
The vertically zigzagging roofline enhances the home's organic and hierarchical structure, allowing natural light to interact dynamically with each space. Drawing inspiration in their form from the Flatiron mountains beyond. Bedrooms are strategically placed in a dedicated wing, separate from the primary living area, ensuring privacy and a cohesive flow throughout the home.
Mountain Ridge reweaves the hillside, integrating seamlessly with the landscape through a design that fills the voids with purposeful form and function.
Only for you. Only in this place.
The architecture employs a zigzag stitch or interlaced crosshatch pattern, extending westward into the earth and pulling eastward toward the slope. This approach creates interstitial spaces that form courtyards, blending the building with its surroundings and offering a mix of private and public outdoor areas.
Mountain Ridge embraces the site's history, transforming the scar left by a previously demolished structure into an opportunity for renewal and healing.
