Canyon Pines

The Tie House stretches horizontally across the hillside like a railcar set into the grade, a long, low volume of steel-framed glass riding atop a crisp concrete plinth carved into the slope. Conceived for the rugged terrain of Canyon Pines, the architecture balances quiet privacy from the arrival sequence with expansive openness toward the mountain and city views beyond.

Dark timber ceilings, smooth plaster walls, and stone flooring establish a restrained material palette grounded in warmth and permanence. Full-height south-facing glazing floods the living spaces with light, while clerestory windows softly illuminate the interiors throughout the day. Embedded into the hillside, the home feels simultaneously protected by the surrounding forest and fully connected to the distant landscape.
