As the seasons shift, we’re taking a moment to reflect on 35 years of Studio B and the people who continue to shape our practice.
In our Fall Newsletter, we celebrate team milestones, share recent recognition from AIA Colorado, American Architecture Awards and Forbes, and we explore why involving an architect before purchasing land can reveal opportunities, identify challenges, and help you make a more informed decision.
We invite you to catch up on what’s happening across our Aspen and Boulder studios.

The change of season has a way of making the passage of time more visible.
The days get shorter. The angle of the sun shifts. Landscapes change, views open, and familiar spaces begin to feel different. In architecture, these shifts are a reminder that buildings are never experienced in a single moment. They change with the light, the landscape, and the seasons, and take on meaning through the people who inhabit them.
This fall, that sense of time passing feels especially relevant as Studio B celebrates 35 years of practice.
Since our founding in Aspen in 1991, the studio has evolved through the people, projects, clients, collaborators, and places that have shaped our work. Thirty-five years gives us plenty to reflect on, but also a chance to consider what has remained constant and what we want to carry forward.
In this issue, we’re celebrating both: where we’ve been and what continues to shape the work ahead.
This fall has also brought a few meaningful moments of recognition for our studio and our work.
We were honored to gather with Colorado’s architecture community for the 2026 AIA Colorado Design + Honor Awards, where Parkside Villa received an Award of Merit.
For a project centered on transformation, working within an existing 9,100-square-foot residence rather than starting over, the recognition is especially meaningful. Congratulations to the entire project team, our clients, collaborators, and craftspeople who helped bring it to life.

Continuing a remarkable year of recognition, Parkside Villa has also received an Honorable Mention in the 2026 American Architecture Awards, presented by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Now in its 32nd year, the program celebrates excellence and innovation in American architecture, recognizing distinguished projects from across the country.
We are honored to share that Studio B Architecture + Interiors has again been included in Forbes’ America’s Best-In-State Residential Architects, as well as its America’s Top 200 Residential Architects, for 2026.
This year’s recognition places Studio B among practices from across the country whose work contributes to an evolving conversation around residential architecture, regionalism, craft, and a meaningful relationship to place.
We congratulate the architects and firms recognized this year and are proud to be part of a design community continuing to set a high standard for residential architecture.
As the seasons change, so does the way we experience a landscape. Views open, sunlight shifts, and the qualities that make a property appealing can look very different throughout the year.
But finding the right site involves more than choosing a beautiful view. Topography, access, soils, and local regulations all influence what’s possible and how a home can respond to its surroundings.
In our latest Insight, we explore why involving an architect before purchasing land can reveal opportunities, identify challenges, and help you make a more informed decision.
Behind 35 years of Studio B are the people whose perspectives, creativity, and dedication continue to shape our work. This year, we’re celebrating several team milestones:

Mike brings deep technical knowledge, thoughtful leadership, and a commitment to carrying strong design ideas through every stage of a project.
Stacy Kiely - 8 Years
Stacy brings the Studio B story to life, connecting our work, people, and ideas through a clear and evolving expression of the brand.
Robby Cuthbert, AIA - 7 Years
Robby brings curiosity, precision, and a thoughtful design perspective, always looking for ways to refine an idea and make it stronger.
Drew Hubbard - 5 Years
Drew brings a rigorous design eye and an instinct for distilling complexity into clear, purposeful architectural ideas.
Olivia Kleespies, ASID - 5 Years
Olivia brings a thoughtful interiors perspective, balancing material, detail, and how a space will ultimately feel and be lived in.
As we move toward the end of the year, there is plenty taking shape across both studios.
New projects are beginning, others are nearing completion, and new ideas and collaborations continue to move the work forward.
We look forward to sharing more in the months ahead. Until then, we hope you enjoy the change in season.
