This flat one-acre site lies at the entry to Aspen and enjoys panoramic views of the Buttermilk Ski Area, Pyramid Peak and the Maroon Bells. Because of the proximity to the highway the profile of the building is low in posture, while still able to maximize views. The architecture employs materials, textures and hues to minimize any impact it may have from the outsider’s experience. The program is divided between a public zone, private wing, and a guest/children’s area. The exterior material palate is rammed earth, vertical rusted steel panels, sandblasted masonry block and zinc roofing.
