Rubey Park Transit Center

The new Rubey Park Transit Center in the heart of Aspen addresses better site amenities for users such as expanded toilets and covered waiting areas, enhanced visibility and circulation across and through the site, and the rehabilitation of the existing structure for continued use.

A central public waiting room and ticketing & information area exists in the modified original facility. Two volumes containing RFTA Staff areas and expanded public restrooms flank the central volume. These elements are connected by an extended roof composed of wood beams and fritted glass unifies the original and new architecture, allows for generous outdoor covered waiting areas, and maximizes circulation and views through the site. The facade of linear bricks brings a modern touch to the historic building vernacular of Aspen.
