Each year, we carve out dedicated time to come together as a studio to reflect on where we are, where we’re headed, and how we want to grow.
This spring’s retreat was a day to reconnect as a team, align on goals, and set intentions for the year ahead. With team members gathered from Aspen and Boulder, we used the time to step back and look at the bigger picture. Reviewing project timelines, firm-wide objectives, and new opportunities for collaboration and leadership.
In a candid group discussion, we explored what’s working well, where we can evolve, and how we continue to support one another across studios. From refining internal processes to nurturing studio culture, the retreat served as a platform to share ideas, offer feedback, and dream together. The honesty and insight shared underscored the strength of our team and our shared commitment to the work.
A meaningful highlight was a guided tour of the Powers Art Center in Carbondale. Nestled in an open field with Mount Sopris on the horizon, the building is a quiet study in minimalist architecture, designed by Hiroshi Nanamori . The visit offered us not only a moment of calm and inspiration, but also a reminder of the impact that restraint, clarity, and intentional design can have, principles we carry into our own practice.
Reflecting, Realigning, and Reconnecting
The following morning, we took to the trails for a group hike—stretching our legs and continuing conversations sparked the day before. Surrounded by nature and fresh air, it was a chance to reset, reconnect, and be reminded of the landscapes that so often inspire our work.
We returned to our studios energized by the weekend, grounded in our values, and excited to continue building the future of Studio B, together.
