Celebrating Three Years with Conor Burrows

This month marks three years since Conor Burrows joined Studio B Architecture + Interiors.

For Conor, joining Studio B was also part of a larger return home. Born and raised in Aspen, his connection to the Roaring Fork Valley and the surrounding mountains began long before architecture became his profession.

His interest in the field started early. As a sixth grader at Aspen Middle School, Conor participated in a mentorship program that gave him his first exposure to architecture as a profession. He later attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where his studies evolved from engineering toward environmental design and architecture. After spending time abroad in Thailand, Conor eventually returned to Aspen and joined Studio B.

Over the past three years, Conor has grown into his role as Designer II, contributing to projects through many stages of the design process. His work moves between sketches and physical models, design development and technical detailing, and time in the field understanding how ideas translate into built work.

That process is closely tied to the landscape that first shaped him. An avid skier, mountain biker, and climber, Conor’s familiarity with the mountains around Aspen gives him an unusually personal understanding of place. The same curiosity that takes him into the Elk Mountains also informs the way he approaches architecture: looking closely, understanding context, and considering how something belongs within a larger landscape. 

This year brought another meaningful milestone when Modern Luxury Aspen selected Conor for its “Next Generation of Aspen” feature, highlighting young professionals who grew up in Aspen and have returned to help shape the community’s future. The feature included an image of Conor atop North Maroon Peak, a particularly fitting portrait of the relationship between his work and the place he calls home.

Three years in, Conor’s story at Studio B is still just beginning. We’re grateful for his curiosity, commitment to the work, and deep connection to Aspen, and we look forward to watching his role within the studio continue to evolve.
