David Burton

Designer

Master of Architecture

University of Colorado - Denver ‘20

Bachelor of Environmental Design

University of Colorado, ‘15

David is a Colorado native that was born and raised adventuring in the Colorado high country. This upbringing has fostered a strong passion and connection to nature along with a philosophy that architecture must celebrate the environment in which it exists. A mentality that permeates the design process, from initial concept and site planning, through material selection and sourcing.

David received his undergraduate degree in environmental design from the University of Colorado Boulder, where he began developing his understanding of sustainability in architecture. In 2020 he graduated with a Master’s of Architecture from the University of Colorado Denver. During the program, he participated in a prestigious Design-Build program where he constructed cabins for an outdoor adventure camp located in New Mexico. The cabins garnered an award for design excellence from the AIA Western Mountain Region. It was during this hands-on process that he discovered his knowledge of construction processes and the importance of beautiful architectural detailing.

For the four years before he arrived at Studio B, David worked for a sports architecture firm in Denver where he had a hand in designing premier stadiums and arenas for the top sporting teams in the world. The architecture of modern stadiums revolves around creating engaging human-centric spaces for people to gather and to be entertained. Understanding how people wish to occupy their environment is directly transferable and informs how they wish to live.
